Georgia Gould is starting to look like she might have what it takes to become a world champion. With Katie Compton also knocking on the door, there is a good chance we will see an American woman on the top step in the near future.
Alison Sydor is one of the most amazing women to ever race a bicycle. In her first year of Cross, she posted a 5th place on Saturday, and 3rd place on Sunday in horrific conditions (above). She is spotting many of the elite racers 15 years!
No, this is not Paris-Roubaix. It is just an average day in Portland. Pictured above is Maxxis team mechanic "Nute" racing with the Elite Men towards the pits.

US National Champion Ryan Trebon had a full minute lead at this point in Sunday's race.
With near hurricane conditions and 10 inches of rain, the Portland Grand Prix races proved to be even more epic than we all expected. Georgia Gould was gapped at the start of both weekend races by the ailing Catie Compton. But, Gould not only reeled her in but went onto two convincing victories. Luna Teammate Katerina Nash posted two second place finishes while starting in the third row. Defending Champion Lyne Bessette was not as competitive as usual in either race. Tim Johnson went off the front on Saturday and never looked back. He increased his lead over Ryan Trebon the entire race. With all the marbles up for grabs on Sunday, Ryan turned the tables and left the entire field in his muddy wake. In doing so, he won his third USPG Championship.
Despite bone chilling temperatures, Tim Johnson threw off his waterlogged gloves and rode bare handed. Tim was chasing an inspired Trebon for 60 minutes on Sunday.
