Canadian National Champion Wendy Simms powers her way through the deep sand pit with Alison Sydor riding in her tracks.  This was a famaliar scene the entire weekend.  In the background is Lyne Bessette who dismounted, and the resurgent Rachael Lloyd. The very few racers who could ride the entire 50 meters of sand were able to open huge gaps on other riders.
Lean, mean racing machine.  Georgia has one way to win....she goes off the front and dares anyone to match her.  The battle between her and Katie Compton at Nationals is going be epic.
Ryan Trebon put together four straight wins in two weeks.  With his Sunday victory he also got to pull on the USPG leaders jersey.
I heard talk that Ryan was not a "mudder" but that is nonsense.  Consider the courses that the mountain bikers race at Mt. Snow and
W. Virginia.  Plus, he used to live and train in Corvallis, Orgegon.  Nuf said?
The present and the future of Cyclocross. Series leader  Tim Johnson and Jessee Anthony sprint through the sand pit on Saturday.  Both were chasing Trebon who was off the front.
Fear this woman!!  Katerina Nash sliced her way through about 35 riders to make the podium on Saturday.  On Sunday she was with the leaders within a half a lap despite another poor starting position.  A bad crash on a 180 degree turn ended her chances of her first USPG victory.  The "Queen" of Mountain Biking Short Track, even Georgia knows that you do not want Katerina on your wheel with one lap to go.  While still new to cyclocross, it is only a matter of time till Katerina gets a big win.
The races in New Jersey were dominated by mountain bikers Georgia Gould (Luna) and Ryan Trebon (Kona).  They forever have a connection because in July of 2006 they both shocked the racing community with breakout races, winning US National Championships at Sonoma, California.  When you consider where US cyclocross racing may be in a few years, it is amazing.  Gould, Compton, Wicks, Trebon, Powers, and Anthony are all still getting better!!
