2006 Grand Prix of Cyclocross 5 & 6
.
It was pretty cool seeing Ryan win in the town of Steliacoom where he grew up. One guy in a local bike shop I visited remembered him when he was a lad.

I have never seen a run-up as long and steep as that one!   The park was nearly ideal for cyclocross.  There was some cool singletrack and some neat riding on top of the ridge.

Katie Compton rode like The Champ and did not take prisoners. What power she has!

I went road riding every morning along the coast on my Oregon made Co-Motion travel bike.  The scenery was supurb.
I have never been to Portland when it wasn't muddy. Sometimes the rain was torrential during the drive down there.

Everyone I asked said it was a two hour drive from Seattle to Portland.  What is with these people?  One guy even told me it is under two hours!  Next time we will go with the Mapquest estimate.

Katerina Nash got her first big cyclocross victory.  I have said for a long time that she just refuses to lose.

There was no catching Tim Johnson on this day, particulary with all the flats.  Barry Wicks had 3, Mark McCormack had 2.  Ryan also had some sort of mechanical. I am not sure it would have made any difference.  Tim was strong.

In his first season in the big leagues, Colt finished the race 46/82.  I would say that is pretty decent for an 18 yr. old.
