Michael Broderick & Mary McConneloug celebrate XC win (click on photo to enlarge)
Six days before leaving for Mt. Snow, which was the 3rd stop on the 2006 NORBA National Series, Colt was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Although he missed the N.C. race, antibiotics improved his condition enough to give the Vermont race a go. While at half strength, he still finished both races which was quite a feat in itself. His XC race had 1/3 of the racers drop out mostly due to the heat!
The highlite of the weekend was to watch our friend Mary McConneloug drop the best North American riders in Pro Women's Cross Country. After one lap she had 70 seconds over Katerina Nash. At the finish she bested Shonny V. by two minutes (who has been almost unbeatable over the past 2 years). What makes it more impressive is that Mike and Mary were still jet lagged from racing in the Czech
Republic the previous weekend! Mike finished 14th in the 75 man Pro Men's Field. Awesome! I raced but got my arse kicked in the 30+ field. Still, it got the monkey off my back returning to racing after breaking my left leg in ten places. The most fun all weekend was riding King Arthur's Trails down the road from Mt. Snow. They are some of the coolest singletrack trails anywhere......tons of roots and lots of up and down. Kona rider Ryan Trebon grabbed his first NORBA National victory in Short Track. He solo'd the entire race. Yahoo!
