:: Ride Summary ::

This year’s Mountain Camp provided memories that will last a lifetime.  There were 55 fit cyclists who rode 670 miles and climbed about 25,000 feet in a week.  Five of us traveled to Tucson from Boston.  Other riders came from almost every state in the country.  Canada and Japan were also represented.

The big story of the week was the weather challenges we faced.  Virtually every morning when we started riding the temperature was 38-43 degrees.  With winds often at 30 mph, the wind chill made it seem like winter at home.  There were at least four days that I wore full winter garb including booties! We experienced rain showers, hail, and even a little snow on the mountain passes.  At night we “analyzed” the weather forecasts for the next day (which were usually wrong).  When in doubt we carried extra clothes with us.

PAC logistics were perfect as usual.  It is amazing how they keep track of riders, leap-froging from stop to stop, having our luggage and motel keys ready when we arrive at our destination.  Kudos go to Lon, Susan, and their whole staff.
